"Dado" coaster

Dado is a handmade pure linen coaster in Off White, with drawn thread embroidery worked entirely by hand on a plain weave ground.

Drawn thread work is the art of meticulously withdrawing weft threads from linen and tying the remaining threads together to create a design. An incredible work of patience and mathematical precision. The threads are counted, counted again, and gathered into small bundles. The motif almost becomes an excuse to tell the story of this technique, a precious everyday accessory and a statement of the skill and intelligence of the hand.
